Nous avons eu la visite jeudi dernier d'un jeune joueur de football qui ce prénomme Demond Hunt. Ce jeune garçon jouait au football avec son lycée il y a encore un mois, mais un destin tragique la frappé. Durant un match il a eu une lésion cérébrale, ce qui est très dangereux. Grâce à l'intervention des services hospitaliers à proximité sa vie fut placé hors de danger. C'est un miracle de voir ce jeune venir nous rendre visite à un entraînement, car une lésion cérébrale laisse la plupart du temps des séquelles irréversibles (paralysie, handicape mental...). Demond Hunt nous a montré que même lorsque tout va mal, il reste toujours un espoir, à lui tout seul il a gagné son Super Bowl.
The St. Louis Rams not only made a dream come true but they also got inspiration from a junior linebacker for the East St. Louis High Flyers. Demond Hunt visited the Rams on Thursday, a month after he suffered a serious brain seizure during a football game at Collinsville.
“That is the type of stuff that is inspirational to us and it puts things into perspective,” said St. Louis Rams defensive end Chris Long. “When you are having a bad day and you think of somebody like that who is fighting through adversity that is inspiration to fight like him.”
“You understand what kind of person he is and how resilient he is,”
said Rams kicker Josh Brown. “To be young and have to deal with a situation like that is a lesson to us all.”
Hunt, who collapsed between plays while on the sideline and had a seizure just before halftime of the game, had an opportunity to meet and speak to some of the Rams players. He also received a Rams jersey with his number and name on the back, and, when practice ended, Rams coach Jim Haslett asked Demond to break the team down. After lunch Demond was interview by a group of St. Louis-area media.
“I just told them that we are both going through it right now,” Demond Hunt said, referring to the Rams’ recent fortunes. “So we are both going to have to go hard.”
Hunt was excited about the memorable event and said that he would remember this forever.
“I just want to thank the Rams,” Demond Hunt said. “I enjoyed the time and the players talking to me.”
“Torry Holt gave me the practice jersey right off his back and Leonard Little gave me his gloves,” Demond added. “Everything was pretty nice.”
“We have been following this story for about a month now,” said Billy Devaney, Executive Vice President/Player Personnel for the Rams. “Your heart just goes out to Demond. It is an awful thing for anybody to go through especially a young kid in his prime.”
Demond continues to go to therapy three times a week. He is being home schooled and will return to East St. Louis High next semester.
